WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG..

William Sinclair Manson

Hello friends, welcome to my Mental Health blog, a place were I hope we can share our experiences whether good or bad.

I have suffered with Mental Health issues since I was 16, I am now 59 and still have the illness in the form of Bi Polar.

I was recently diagnosed with this illness and I am currently on Medication as well as under a Doctor in the Mental Health team.

Even in this day and age there is still a stigma about Mental Health issues and how it impacts your life.

To be able to understand the illness you need to have suffered some form be it depression or psychotic episodes.

I hope you will come forward and share your experiences be they good or bad.

The main thing about having a Mental Health illness is communication and it has helped me no end.

I look forward to hearing your stories, off course it can be anonymous if you like, but I feel I have nothing to hide and will answer all questions you fire at me. I am also a great listener should you want to chat.

LIVING WITH MENTAL HEALTH THE BEGINNING. intro

LIVING WITH MENTAL HEALTH

Hi friends, this is my first post on Mental Health.

Throughout my life I knew there was something wrong, I knew I wasn’t happy unless I was making everyone around me unhappy, even to the extreme of being cruel to people, friends, neighbours, and especially my mum was the target of my aggression, an aggression I couldn’t explain, but today I now fully understand why, with support ,counselling and medication, finally I can see light at the end of a very long tunnel.

I hope this forum will draw fellow sufferers to have a chat with me, to find out how you are coping with mental health, what help if any you get, and most importantly you can share your experiences with us, especially if you have any tips on how to manage with Mental health.

I look forward to hearing from you.

THE BEGINNING. part 1

Don’t suffer alone.

I was born in the 60,s it wasn’t all flower power, colours, and happy times or even gay times which meant a totally different phrase from today, to be gay was to be happy, its amazing how definitions change throughout the years.

I was born in a council house, my folks never had any money to buy a home, so we lived in rented accommodation.

EARLY DAYS. part 2

coping with mental health

Life wasn’t all bad, there were happy times, times when we thought everything was “normal” times when dad was a good dad and fulfilled his parental duties, like taking us to places, he used to take us to the grey hound racing, and the best for me was the wrestling, in those days it was quite exciting.

LIVING AWAY FROM HOME. part 3

THAT’S WHAT YOUR BRAIN FEELS.

Most times my mum would move in with my older brother, she stayed a lot there, once everything died down, my dad in remorse would have a discussion with her, she came home and all was well, at least for a couple of weeks or so.

THE END OF HIGH SCHOOL. part 8.

MENTAL HEALTH

Well needless to say high school came and went, but it wasn’t plain sailing. I would have loved to have learned something and got some academic
qualifications but alas it was not to be, like so many Council schools you either had it or you didn’t and I sadly didn’t, now I look back in anger, angry with the Officials who should have made sure the class dummies were segregated, should have made sure if you had potential to nurture it, but alas they only wanted rid, and it was up to you were you went from there.

WORKING LIFE Part 13

this is your brain.

THE WORKING LIFE.

Hi folks ,sorry about the delay, I took some time out to visit my family in Scotland, the first time I have been back home in 7 years lol, and it was worth every moment.
Going back to Scotland gave me memories I forgot I had, memories, some good, some embarrassing, and some not so good, but seeing my family really made me appreciate them, and family is important.

LIVING IN THE 80’S ON A COUNCIL ESTATE. PART 1.16

LIVING WITH BI-POLAR DISORDER

LIVING IN THE 80’S ON A COUNCIL ESTATE.

In the area were I lived in Scotland it was a pretty poor area, run down and full of dodgy people, although the ones I knew were quite cool and did not bother me or my family or friends, however there was a family who lived close by, who had a reputation for violence people were kind of scared of them, however my mum and dad were not and I remember the fights between the family and ours.

LIVING IN THE 80’S PART 2 .17

We lived in the estate for many years, some times were happy, some times were not, my mum lay in her bed upstairs dying yes sorry to be brutally honest but that’s a fact, she had dwindled away into this poor heap of skin and bone, the cancer was spreading, she sometimes got respite from the hospital and was allowed home, but we knew her time was almost up and it was heartbreaking to see her suffer, if an animal was suffering as much as she was the vet would have ended its life humanely, I do believe (in my opinion) that humans should have the same rights.
If you have never experienced a loved one stripped of their humanity by cancer then you are very lucky, its horrible and tears a family apart.

AFTER WORKING IN THE WAREHOUSE. pt 18.

AFTER WORKING IN THE WAREHOUSE

I stuck the last job for quite a while and eventually I began to enjoyed it, but I wanted to move on as I was getting bored doing the same thing day in day out, I remember being there for a lot of hours as I waited on a guy who used to give me a life home, a kind quiet guy who took me home each night as he lived nearby, come to think of it now, I don’t think I ever thanked him for his kindness.

THE HOSPITAL PORTER part 1. part 19

living with mental health.

THE HOSPITAL PORTER part 1.

When I started in my new job there were a number of characters already working there, they seemed nice, but with such a large group of men came a lot of bickering and in my view childish ranting, more so when you turned your back, I never ever let it get to me, but I did fall into the trap of being “like them” and I did not like that.
As with every job in the World there was favourites, the bosses had many of them, you were entangled into a web of deceit and lies for a very long period.
The team I was put into was a very lively lot, there were characters who made themselves known and who couldn’t care what people thought of them, these people were never liked and although the boss was scared of them, they frankly got away with “murder” in a sense lol.

THE HOSPITAL PORTER PART 2 part 20

MENTAL HEALTH.

Well into the job I was quite happy as I worked hard at that time, I had met lots of characters, some were cool, others were just pure assholes, like any job you always get them lol.

THE HOSPITAL PORTER PART 3 part 21.

mental health.

The job was going well, the people were weird, but after some time They started to get better, the characters were very strong, this particular guy was suffering from obesity and every opportunity he got he fell asleep which was usually daily, he sat down and instantly fell asleep, probably because of the weight he was carrying, aside from that he was a real nice person, he was kind to me, although I never really knew how he got away with napping on the job, the rest of the guys generally left him alone, he was a huge guy and being licked by him you would have felt it, in his defence he did his job well during the day and usually napped after he was finished.
